It is funny to see people criticize alternative MIDI keyboards. At least they are meant to be easier to play.
I can prove that the piano keyboard was a bad idea, its easy. See this?
It’s a finger stretcher for pianists. I don’t think there’s a similar torture device for other instruments.
Supposedly Robert Schumann ended his playing career with one of these by injuring his right hand.
Face it, the traditional piano keyboard is a BAD DESIGN. Its great that some companies are taking a chance and offering a better design.
thanks corporations! now we are free, free at last. i used to have to practice and develop skill at my instrument, do stretches, and learn how to tune it. but now i can just hit the start button and wiggle my knob until the next masterpiece is born.

Twat – For over a century new musicians have been searching for new instrumentation but some ignorant retrograde twats want things to sound just like they did in the 1850’s. These twats seem to have a hard-on for equal tempering and 12 notes. If a note strays outside the hallowed scale then it must be treated with suspicion and derision.
Fucking morons cannot accept that any acoustic instrument or instrument based on acoustic design is a comprise between the posibilities of the sound achieved and the acoustic properties of the instrument. Learning to play one of these instruments, fucking your fingers and bodies to work a certain way has nothing to do with music but rather it is an attempt to overcome the comprimises inherent in acoustic instrument design.
If I can make a musical masterpiece with a single knob then cool. I have liberated music from the comprimises of acoustic instrument design. If I could compose, arrange and perform music that truly flows directly from my concious and unconcious musical mind without having to be passed through some sad bastards muscular dexterity test then I would be very happy indeed.
Liberate music from its instrumentation.
Liberate twats from their inate conservatism.
Peace Out
>i used to have to practice and develop skill at my instrument, do stretches, and learn how to tune it.
And tell me, are you creating any great works of art with all your practice? Show us. Put your music where your mouth is.

Well put. Thank you. We are stuck with the piano keyboard NOT because it was well designed….no, because it suited the layout of the strings on the frame. Screw the musician who actually has to play it.
All this feeds into my theory that the act of playing music is NOT art. It is, for most musicians, an obsessive-compulsive disorder. They do their finger-stretching exercises because their brains are not capable of new ideas, and they feel that becoming Glenn Gould (or Steve Vai, or whoever) will bring them endless fame, wine, women and BMWs. Or at least, it feeds their broken little egos.
It reminds me of the crazy shit going on in the world of Olympic swimming. Read this.
“I’m not going to sacrifice performance. I’ll be fined €3,000, but what’s €3,000?”
So now, no swimmer will compete without wearing that $550 Speedo suit. They MUST have the thing. Get fined, get suspended? Don’t care. Must have suit. They should have banned the damn thing. Short fins also make you swim faster–but those are banned. How nice, a swimsuit is ruining the competitive swimming world.
I wonder—if they allow Oscar Pistorius to run at the Olympics, will all competitive runners cut their legs off so they can use the same prostheses?
That antique hand-stretcher is nothing…
here’s a patent from 1994.

“Further, increased hand span can aid a pianist in comfortably reaching the necessary keys to strike particular chords required in playing certain musical pieces. ”
I can see that device for legitimate medical use.
But using it to improve piano playing is just insane.
Plus, that thing is terrifying, one could use it to
extract confessions from people.
acoustic music is not a compromise
don’t be a materialist
admin, show me yours before i show you mine
Spa-monitor, do you really hate equal tempered tuning or are you just really pleased with yourself because you recently learned a little music theory
